From the recording Me and My Jawbone
Madman
Madman stand on the side of the road
He eats a crop somebody else sowed
Madman lay his head for the night
On a railroad track On an interstate flight
Madman laughs at the sight of the sun
With that another days work is begun
Madman laughs at the sun going down
Another day might bring him around
Madman take it down to the wire
His hands shake and his eyes are on fire
He needs a friend and he needs them now
He'll try to love you --- Just tell him how
Ch:
He only said he had a line on an ancient treasure
Claimed he had a map
Was so believable when he laid out his story
So surprised! He Brought it back
Madman knows that he's in too deep
Is he awake or walking in his sleep?
Madman wake up! Welcome the day!
You can't have it no other way
Madman ---Older, wiser now
He sells a gun/ buys a plow
Madman --- shoulder to the wheel
How else you going to know how it feels
Madman with your nose to the stone
Madman sitting and drinking alone
Madman come and give relief
It's coming on you like a thief
Ch:
He's just a man who got his hand on a long lost treasure
Carried it in a sack
You should have seen it when he dragged it across the border
Hounds barking--- Deck stacked against him
