The Gangster of Light - an Encomium
The Gangster of Light walks on water
Boy wonder with a bad attitude
Rips the covers off the dirty linen
Shines a light on who's doing who
Shines a light on the criminal justice
Shines a light on the dirt that's so clean
Shines a light on the In God We Trusters
You know what the gangster means
The gangster speaks to the masses
The voice of the one that is mute
But must wait till after it crashes
To show them the cause at the root
He must wait till they're ready to see it
In the light of a new point of view
It'll die by neglecting to feed it
And expire when it fails to renew
The gangster is quiet as a sphinx
He's not going to make a slip
Speaks in riddles, side-stepping the jinx
The snare they lay won't make him trip
Little gods with their power and their money
Suck the blood from the giant that sleeps
In the land of milk and honey
He pulls secrets from out of the deep
Now the years have gone by like policemen
The sand box of time is a mess
I am drunk at the baggers famine
Where we're going, I don't want to guess
The gangster knows all of his choices
Tried them all but the damn kitchen sink
And me, I'm starting to hear voices
And a dead horse is starting to stink
Now you say that you ain't got no heroes
The bigger, the harder they fall
Pick the bones of once-fashionable zeros
Denounce what you once held so tall
The gangster will come with the power
Kicking doors down - taking names
When he is the man of the hour
It's as plain as the nose on my brains
